FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
No. DATZN is a solution designed to work with HPE Aruba WLAN infrastructures, leveraging their capability to integrate ultra-efficient EnOcean IoT sensors.
Because the DATZN solution uses already deployed HPE Aruba Wi-Fi access points as communication bridges with EnOcean sensors. These sensors are completely wireless and battery-free, and communicate directly with the APs via an additional IoT radio (no need for switches, routers, gateways, or physical wiring), which greatly simplifies installation and reduces costs.
No. EnOcean sensors use their own IoT communication protocol and a specific 868 MHz (EU) radio, which is added to compatible HPE Aruba access points. For this reason, no changes to the network configuration are required (SSID, VLANs, ACLs, etc.), meaning the security of the network remains intact.
EnOcean sensors use innovative Energy Harvesting technology, capturing and storing small amounts of energy generated by the environment (light, motion, etc.) to operate fully autonomously — without batteries or additional maintenance. In specific environments where energy generation is not consistently sufficient, a small backup battery can optionally be added to ensure continuous operation.
The DATZN platform offers flexible installation options tailored to each client’s specific needs. It is available as a full cloud-based service, providing all the benefits of the cloud; but it can also be installed on-premise on existing virtualization infrastructure (compatible with VMware and H3C CAS).
DATZN sensors do not connect directly to the corporate Wi-Fi network. Instead, they use a separate communication channel through dedicated radios integrated into the Aruba access points. The data they collect is transmitted via encrypted, independent channels, ensuring that the main data network remains fully isolated and protected.
Yes. DATZN operates in parallel without affecting your regular Wi-Fi usage, with no interruptions or changes to your current connection.
No. Since the sensors are wireless and battery-free, DATZN requires minimal to no maintenance, making management as simple as possible.
DATZN provides useful information to help you better manage your space, such as area occupancy, environmental quality, energy consumption, and other variables that help you optimize resources.
Not at all. DATZN is designed to be simple and intuitive, allowing any user to quickly take advantage of its benefits without the need for advanced technical knowledge. Additionally, it includes a virtual assistant powered by AI that allows users to query information directly in natural language.
